Reason(s) participant came to the Computer Training Center (what was his/her goal?)

To learn how to use the computer. The Computer Learning Center started a beginners class and it has really taken off. Each participant is learning to use the mouse by playing Solitaire, and learning to type and use the formatting options in MS Word.

Accomplishment(s) of the participant:

Each participant can use the mouse and has learned the layout of the keyboard.

Obstacles he/she had to overcome:

Not one of the users in this success story have EVER used a computer. 3 of the 5 users have been living at Shirley Futch for several years and have never come to the computer room until now!



What difference has participation in the Computer Training Center made for him/her?

Each user has commented on how much they look forward to learning something new. They have also organized their notes from class in folders and notebooks (on their own!). Eileen Honsberger has had so much progress that she is already sending/receiving email.
In February all users will learn email!
