Mother's Day 2018 - Red Carpet Celebration

WARNING: Tons of pictures!

The ladies of SFP were treated to a Red Carpet luncheon for our annual Mother's Day Celebration.

Upon arrival, residents walked down the Red Carpet to be interviewed by our Hostess Lisa (she's also the Social Service Coordinator):

Residents were checked out by Security (Chad & Mark, they're also the 'Maintenance Guys') and some were even escorted!  They must have been bad....

Entering the Community Room they were greeted by our beautiful MC - Sue (she's also the Property Manager):

Look at this spread:

Over 40 ladies attended!

We gave out fun awards! Example, Marie won for 'Most Shirley Futch Team Spirit'

After the party, the ladies had to get their stars from the wall of fame:

It was a wonderful Mother's Day Celebration!  Here are some final pictures of your crazy staff!

We love you Shirley Futch!!!

April Birthday Party

On Thursday April 19, the residents of Shirley Futch Plaza celebrated all of our April birthdays.  Afterward, Chad Smiley (SFP Maintenance Technician and East Stroudsburg Volunteer Firefighter) facilitated a fire safety course.  He demonstrated his uniform and gear, showed us how to correctly use a fire extinguisher, discussed the fire evacuation procedures for our site and allowed time for a Q&A.  It was a very resourceful April birthday party!

Travel Day -> Northern Mariana Islands

The Northern Mariana Islands are a U.S. commonwealth in the Pacific Ocean. Saipan, the largest island, is known for its sandy shores and mountainous landscapes. In clear waters off its west coast is the tiny, coral-fringed MaƱagaha islet. On Saipan's northeast coast, turtles inhabit the Grotto, a cavern dive site. Nearby, memorials mark Banzai Cliff and Suicide Cliff, sites from WWII's Battle of Saipan.

Capital: Capitol Hill, Saipan

The first people of the Mariana Islands immigrated at some point between 4000 BC and 2000 BC from Southeast Asia. After first contact with Spaniards, they eventually became known as the Chamorros, a Spanish word similar to Chamori, the name of the indigenous caste system's higher division.
The ancient people of the Marianas raised colonnades of megalithic capped pillars called latte stones upon which they built their homes. The Spanish reported that by the time of their arrival, the largest of these were already in ruins, and that the Chamorros believed the ancestors who had erected the pillars lived in an era when people possessed supernatural abilities.

Archeologists in 2013 posited that the first people to settle in the Marianas may have made what was at that point the longest uninterrupted ocean-crossing voyage in human history, and that archeological evidence indicates that Tinian might have been the first Pacific island outside of Asia to be settled
