Join us for a couple rounds of Literati! We play each month immediately following the Birthday Party.

Literati is similar to the board game Scrabble except we play online against each other.

If you don’t know how to play, I can teach you in just a few minutes! Give it a try, I know you will like it. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board outside the Computer Learning Center.

According to the Canadian Broadcasting Center, simple computers date back thousands of years to the Chinese abacus, consisting of rows of beads on a wooden frame used for counting. The modern computer dates back to 1945, when the Electronic Numerical Integrator and Calculator (ENIAC) was invented. In 1973, the U.S. Department of Defense developed the Internet so all of its own computers could be connected; in 1990 the World Wide Web was born, Scientific American reports. The rapid evolution of technology has resulted in the computers we use today, and those too are changing as we speak.

Neighborhood Networks Week 2010 provides centers with an opportunity to showcase all that they have to offer, recognize the efforts of those who help make center programs a success, and shine the spotlight on their accomplishments, as well as those of residents.

Open Lab

Whether you’re a beginner or advanced user we will have a computer for you! I am available to help you during this time but you will have to share me ;)

Surf Facebook or YouTube. Check e-mail or the news. Play games. Print Coupons. Make Cards.

Tips:
- Come Wednesday or Thursday morning, it’s much quieter
- Bring a sweater – the computers work hard, we have to keep them cool
- Come to a class or the Home Users Club – you will learn something new, I promise
