 Delaware, a small Mid-Atlantic U.S. state, sits on a peninsula marked by dune-backed beaches bordering the Atlantic Ocean, Delaware River and Delaware Bay. In Dover, the capital, First State Heritage Park encompasses 18th-century Colonial landmarks like the Georgian-style Old State House. The city of Wilmington is known for the Riverfront, a waterside district of parks, boutiques and restaurants.

State Flag:

The Delaware state flag features the state's coat of arms prominently in the center. The coat of arms featuring a shield with an ox, an ear of corn and wheat, which represent the state's agriculture. There is a sailing ship above the shield represents the coastal commerce and the shipbuilding industry. Colonial blue and buff are Delaware's state colors. The two colors were inspired by a military uniform George Washington once wore.

State Motto: Liberty and Independence,” was derived from the Order of Cincinnati, a hereditary organization of American Revolutionary War officers. It first appeared on the state's seal in 1847 as an expression of the ideals of American government.

State Bird: 
The Delaware Blue Hen is a blue strain of American gamecock. It was adopted on April 14, 1939, as the state bird of Delaware. It is one of three U.S. state birds that is not a species native to the United States.
